HAMAP: Burkholderia pseudomallei (strain 1710b) complete proteome

General information

Species:  Burkholderia pseudomallei (strain 1710b)
Species code: BURP1
Taxonomy: Bacteria; Proteobacteria; Betaproteobacteria; Burkholderiales; Burkholderiaceae; Burkholderia; pseudomallei group (TaxID: 320372) [NEWT/ NCBI]
Description: Bukholderia pseudomallei is the causative agent of melioidosis, a disease that is endemic in Southeast Asia. Besides humans, melioidosis can affect animals such as sheep, goats, horses, swine, dogs and cats. Transmission occurs by contact with contaminated soil and water, through skin abrasions or inhalation of dust. In northeastern Thailand, B.pseudomallei accounts for 20% of the septicaemias.
Properties: Presence of flagella: Yes
Interaction: Animal pathogen in Mammalia
Number of membranes: 2
Number of inteins:0
Statistics: Number of BURP1 entries in the UniProt Knowledgebase: 6329 (379 in UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot + 5950 in UniProtKB/TrEMBL)
