| Description: | Bartonella henselae infects both cats and humans. The bacteria are transmitted among cats by the cat flea Ctenocephalides felis and to humans by cat scratches or cat bites. Infections produce no clinical symptoms in cats whereas cat-scratch disease in humans causes manifestations in the liver, the skin, the lymphatic organs, and the nervous and cardiovascular systems. |
